Erection of new restaurant in out of centre location
We secured the approval of consent for a new standalone A3 retail unit in an out of centre location on the outskirts of York. The local planning authority was resistant given the existing planning policy context and the growing influence of Clifton Moor as a retail destination.
We were able to demonstrate that the use was ancillary to the main retail use on the site, no sequentially preferable site could be identified within the catchment area to accommodate this business model, and the impact on the City Centre would not be significant or adverse. The A3 consent has been built out and is trading.
